Marjons secured their place in Western Conference 1A after a nail biting 4-3 win over UWIC. After leading 1-0 from an Andy Hill penalty corner goal UWIC hit back with a rocket of a shot mid way into the first half. Marjons then regained the lead just before the break when James Hogden was on hand to slot the ball into an empty goal after an initial shot hit the post. Just after the break another strike was fired into the roof of the net with Dan Dukes unable to see the ball let alone stop the shot. UWIC continued to threaten and took the lead for the first time with fifteen minutes left. With No 41 seeing yellow twice Marjons had a numerical advantage on two occasions.  With the clock running down it looked like Marjons were not going to be able to find the equalizer they needed to ensure their league status. James Hogden had a golden opportunity after a fine passing move but was unable to hit the target from close range. Then with five minutes left MoPs leading club goal scorer Adam Evans latched onto a forward pass to slot the ball past the advancing keeper to draw the game level at 3-3. Minutes later Phil Ithurralde scored a well worked penalty corner goal before he was sent off by his favourite umpire Paddy.

Certainly not their best performance of the season but the result was more important to ensure Marjons Men’s Hockey have a chance to build on their steady progress next season.
